There is a very close relationship between Takin and Jigong (Drukpa Kunley)- a character of Buddha.
Long time ago, Jigong went to Bhutan and spread Buddhism. Locals felt suspicious about his identity and wanted to challenge him. Therefore, they asked Jigong to play some magic to them. Jigang accepted the request only when he was given something to eat. The locals gave him some yak’s and lamp’s meat to him. After having the meal, Jigong put the leftovers – the yak’s body and the lamb’s head – together and thus, created Takin.
Takin has become the endangered species since 2008 because of human activities and hunting activities. I sincerely hope that we don’t need to ask for Jigong to recreate this kind of animal for us until they become extinct.
